DEFINITION:
Body image refers to how you see and feel about your appearance.
INTRODUCTION:
Nowadays, people focus more on beauty and appearance than their inner qualities. Though there is an encouraging growth rate in awareness, studies still show that 86% of women suffer from body image and want to lose weight.
STEREOTYPES:
Social media has made severe negative stereotypes describing body image. It portrays that one’s beauty lies upon how beautiful they are from the outer side. But one has to understand that their character determines their original beauty.
HARMFUL EFFECTS:
These stereotypes provoke people to make themselves appear as beautiful as they can. Due to this reason, some people take strict diets, harmful treatments, artificial surgeries, etc.
THE MOST AFFECTED:
The most affected groups due to the negative side of body image are teenagers, approximately aged 11-20. During this time, they want themselves to be as attractive and as beautiful as possible to attract the opposite sex. This makes them use many harmful body lotions and hair oils, which cause them many diseases; continuous use even results in cancer sometimes.
AWARENESS:
Our responsibility is to ensure that most people know what products they use, and body image is not the only thing to worry about.
