Anemia in children happens when a child has lower than 3.9 million red blood cells in their body. A child could be anemic if their body produces a very low number of red blood cells; it can also happen due to an underlying illness or excessive blood loss due to injury. Iron deficiency too could be a reason for a child to be anemic.
Some of the most common symptoms of anemia include exhaustion, weakness, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, headaches, and loss of appetite. A child with anemia may not necessarily exhibit all of the listed symptoms. If you feel like your child may be showing symptoms of anemia, you should consult your doctor for a proper medical diagnosis.
