With most families restricted inside their homes in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, ensuring that children get their daily exercise has become a challenge. When schools were open, kids could engage in multiple physical activities and outdoor sports, but that is no longer an option.

Physical activity is extremely important, especially during the COVID Pandemic, as it could help boost immunity, prevent weight gain, as well as reduce stress. Parents can play an active role in encouraging their children to exercise at home. The following are some easy to do and fun exercises that children can do at home:

1) Jumping jacks: these are a fun way to teach children multidirectional movement at a young age and serve as a great cardio exercise as well. It involves these easy steps: Just ask the child to stand upright with their legs together, arms at the side, Bend knees slightly, and jump into the air. While jumping, the legs should be spread shoulder-width apart, while stretching arms out and over your head. Then jump back to the starting position and repeat.

2) Skipping rope exercise: This is a fun and engaging exercise for kids. It is a great workout for the entire body, as it gets the heart pumping and improves coordination and balance. It is equally beneficial for adults as well!

3) Dancing: There is nothing more fun than grooving to some good music! Dancing is probably the best way to get the whole body moving. It is a great way to enhance balance and coordination. There are many online videos that can be followed for a simple routine, or one can dance on their own as well. This can be a daily family activity too.
