Importance Of An Active Lifestyle

Being physically active holds great significance because our body, just like a well-oiled machine, needs to be constantly used so as to not rust, i.e. not become disease-ridden. The country where we live currently does not pay much heed to the active lifestyle of students, as the Indian Education System is completely based on our academic capabilities and pursuits. One does not pay much interest or spend many resources in advancing extracurricular activities, for we know that they are very unlikely to be of much use in the future. As for active lifestyles among adults, we become so engrossed in our daily lives, work, and home that we often backtrack in tending to the physical needs of our bodies.

I will not be wasting anyone’s precious time by putting all blame for our inactive lifestyle on the advancement of technology, as it is no use holding such a vice accountable because we cannot go back in time to an era when technology was primitive. We can, however, find loopholes in our daily lives and utilise them to remedy our situation, like playing music while exercising and making it a part of our daily regimen. Having an active lifestyle doesn’t just pertain to learning to be physically fit, it helps us in becoming lively, be pumped with boosts of energy and serotonin, and statistically speaking, become much happier. Yes, that is indeed true, as according to the World Health Organisation, physical activity reduces symptoms of not only cardiovascular and other such diseases, but also symptoms of anxiety and stress. William Shakespeare, the unequaled English playwright, once said that “Our bodies are our gardens, to which our wills are gardeners.” Taking inference from this, it is of high consequence that we treat ourselves, the beings who breathe life into us every day, kindly.
