“Mental health is not a destination but a project. It’s about how you drive.”
Physical health can be defined as the normal functioning of the body. A person is physically fit only when his/her body is functioning normally without any problem or disease.
The World Health Organization (WHO) conceptualizes mental health as a “state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community”.
Do you know that poor mental health can result in physical disability?
Instability in Mental Health can lead to –
(a) Severe emotional physical and mental health problems like anxiety disorder, depression, disruptive behaviour, and much more.
(b) Unhappiness in one’s life
(c) Person may get addicted to alcohol, tobacco, and drugs which causes family conflicts and relationship difficulties.
(d) lifelong problems like diabetes, heart problems, etc.
An emotionally fit and mentally stable person can deal with all his/her problems easily. To be emotionally strong, one has to be physically fit also. Believe it or not, both mental health and physical health are interrelated.
Mental illnesses are not caused by one single problem but by multiple causes like chronic mental illnesses, feeling of loneliness, trauma, biological or chemical imbalances in the brain, etc.
Good mental health defines your personality.
- To have good mental health one should talk to friends and family face to face so that he/she would not feel lonely.
- One should take a proper balanced diet to remain healthy.
- One should sleep for at least 7 hours to stay active and do some exercises that would help in releasing stress.
It is rightly said that there must be a crack to get the light in so that happiness could reach you.
