“All works no play makes Jack a dull boy” goes the famous proverb which not only tells us about the importance of physical work but also motivates the youth to participate in physical tasks rather than just sitting. Today in the world, when we are all becoming slaves of technology and gadgets; not only the youth but the adults are even seen stuck to their mobile phones.
In the past times, the children used to go outside and play among themselves and spend their evenings with each other. But today, they are always seen spending time on their gadgets with no connection with the outer world or attending tuition classes. It has been normally observed that children these days spend 4-5 hours of their day on tuition, 6-7 hours in school, and the rest of the time on screen – either laptop or mobiles.
Rather, they should spend time in the garden with their family because physical and mental development always goes hand in hand.
- Physical activity can improve mental health conditions and prevent disorders like anxiety and depression that teenagers these days are more prone to.
- Go for cycling rides with their friends or join any physical sport.
- It reduces the risk of diseases like heart attack and premature death.
- It also improves cholesterol levels and increases the metabolic rate of the body.
- Working out gives you a boost of confidence that can help you in your professional and personal life.
This can contribute to their overall development. Rather than being a couch potato, we can indulge ourselves in any physical activity that we like. At last, I would like to conclude with a famous saying by Nelson Mandela – “Exercise is the key not only to physical health but to peace of mind as well.”
