Our body is genetically designed to walk. Walking can prevent and help to treat a myriad of health conditions, has no side effects, and doesn’t cost anything. It’s a great way to maintain and improve our overall health condition owing to its low impact, the requirement of minimal equipment, and the ease with which it can be performed at any time of the day and at any pace.

  • Walking boosts metabolism, aids weight control, and improves brain function i.e. hundreds of calorie-burning muscles are utilized by walking. Walking increases enzyme activity and burns calories even after you stop. Just two miles can increase your calorie consumption for up to 12 hours afterward.
  •  Walking stimulates brains and meridians: As legs move in opposition to the arms, called the “cross crawls”, the cortices of the brain are activated. This simple exercise balances the left and right brain hemispheres and this, in turn, benefits every function in mind and body.
  • All the body fluids are activated in walking: Blood, synovial fluid, and cerebral spinal fluid all begin to flow naturally. This enhances one’s vital force and one’s ability to heal himself. Thus, it can fight off inflammation, diabetes, glaucoma, anxiety, and depression.
  • Walking boosts one’s immune system because it helps to flush toxins out of the body, which otherwise can collect in the blood vessels and slow down the immune system.

Walking in nature as opposed to the city has been shown to result in even greater health improvements. It stimulates the influx of free electrons from the Earth’s surface to neutralize free radicals and reduce inflammation, which is at the root of many health conditions and accelerated aging.
